OELO CASE STUDY
Select Fort Collins Community Buildings
AN OELO LED COMMERCIAL LIGHTING CASE STUDY
project details
Focusing on improving grounds management efficiency, Fort Collins set out to eliminate the ongoing time and recurring budget the city endured by hanging and coordinating holiday lights by enlisting the Oelo Lighting Solutions install team. Right in our own backyard, Oelo’s installation team illuminated five different City of Fort Collins community buildings, combining 1,800 lights and its proprietary cloud-based system to accent these buildings, which includes City Hall and Fort Collins’ police station.
1,800 LIGHTS + 5 COMMUNITY BUILDINGS
how fort collins uses its oelo lights
A thriving college town, the City of Fort Collins can use its Oelo lights to celebrate Colorado State University game days with green and gold. And with seven high schools, the city can root on its state-bound teams. Plus, nothing says American pride more than red, white and blue on patriotic holidays, and the grounds team will celebrate in November, December and January, knowing crews won’t have to hang and take down holiday lights at these five buildings.
More than 57 square miles of community.
HOME RULE CITY
Fort Collins is a home rule city with a council/manager government. The rapidly urbanizing city operates under a comprehensive development plan, requiring projects, like Oelo’s, to go through a public and detailed RFP process. Oelo was awarded the initiative in early 2022.
FORT COLLINS MAKEUP
Fort Collins encompasses more than 57 square miles and has 174,871 citizens (as of 2020). The city maintains nearly a 1,000 acres of parks, 37,607 acres of natural areas, 45 miles of off-street trails and many community facilities, making Oelo a welcome addition for the maintenance team.
SECURE OPERATIONS
Oelo’s cloud-based system is controlled from multiple desks via a web browser and select iPhone/Android devices through WiFi, cellular or Ethernet. Oelo’s software security is extremely robust and utilizes openssl. 1.1d controller software and AWS Cognito User Pool credentials.
“It means a lot to us that Fort Collins recognized the importance of selecting and supporting a local company, especially because many of our employees get to enjoy seeing their work each time they pass one of these buildings. We love knowing we had a hand in making our community a more beautiful place to live.”
